To know fundamental accounting to make more money investing in companies which are profitably and financially strong. This will make investors have greater confidence in their stock investment without getting stressed and can sleep well despite market volatility.
For many years, I find many people shun accounting as they feel that accounting is very difficult to understand. I remembered sharing jokes about accounting with my friends and they gave me very blank look. One of them YY is an IT professional and invests heavily in the stock market. She quietly told she has quite alot of funds "stuck" in stocks that were trading below their purchase prices. She had to change her lifestyle and travelled lesser due to budget constraints.
She was facing huge potential losses if she was to sell off her stock. A few companies she invested in were in fact facing bankruptcy due to poor financial performance.
I asked why she did not review the financials of the companies before she invested. She told me that she does not know accounting and rely mainly on so called tips or market rumors in buying her stock.
If only she had done her homework to review whether the companies' fundamentals were worth her investments, she would not have invested in some of the stocks.
I have identified some basic accounting concepts and packaged them in a PBCF system to help investors who are not trained in accounting to be more financially savvy in their investing decisions.
