Hi! I am Esther, a university student with more than 10 years of experience in music playing. Story goes that I was classically trained in music from the age of 4 because every asian mum wants their kid to know a little of everything, right?
As the years gone by, I came to realise I did enjoy this instrument very very much, and the hours of practice I put in when I was younger really did help me play effortlessly at an older age. I must caveat though, that repeating the drill of practicing scales, other technical drills and pieces will seem very boring until you've crossed at least a Grade 5/6 when you'll appreciate more musical style. Eventually, I pursued O level music because of (well, you could say slight recklessness) but more than that knowing this was my only chance of pursuing and studying something slightly better and deeper without being (too) serious at my subject choices just yet. I started actually appreciating music and style way more actually after I attained my Diploma in Piano Performance and formally stopped music examinations. Gradually, I was able to explore other genres like Pop and Jazz and even learnt how to create a melody, tune and arrange a song on my own.
