Prenatal Bonding

When is the best time to start prenatal bonding?

Dr. Gerhard Schroth mentioned in prenatal bonding journal that prenatal bonding starts at around 20 weeks of pregnancy.

What is prenatal bonding?

Bonding with a baby during pregnancy refers to a process through which a pregnant woman experiences feelings and emotions for her foetus, interacts with her foetus and develops a maternal identity (i.e. begins to identify herself as a mother) during pregnancy.

According to Dr. Gerhard Schroth, Prenatal Bonding provides the possibility of creating an intense bonding between mother and fetus, of being witness to the development of the fetus in the womb and realizing the early growth of the personality.

Benefits of Prenatal Bonding

1.It helps to build a close relationship and bond with your unborn baby during pregnancy which facilitate post-natal bonding and attachment during the early infancy.

2.Mother and unborn baby’s bonding can affect the baby’s future growth and development. A stronger bond between mother and unborn baby will enhance better developmental potentials (language and speech, and emotional developments) and outcomes for baby in future.

3. It also help the baby to feel safe and trust the mother as she can provide a loving and trustful relationship with her unborn baby.

4. The babies will have a higher self-awareness and self-esteem, and they are more patient and understanding to their parents and themselves.
